The weekend got off to a shaky start, as Kennett Post 491 dropped Friday night’s game to Concord. But, with little time to dwell on the loss, the team quickly turned things around on Saturday with a 16-0 win over Westtown.
Father’s Day brought fresh excitement as the team traveled to Frawley Stadium in Wilmington, DE to play the Concord team that handed them their second loss of the season just a few days before. Post 491 wasted no time scoring 7 in the first and another 4 in the second which would prove to be more than enough.
Starter Vinny Basciani was brilliant for Kennett. He allowed four hits and one run over three innings, striking out three. Matt McCloskey was also strong on the mound. He went 2.2 IP, allowing only 1 hit and striking out 3.
The Kennett offense was lead by Nate Holt who was 4 for 4 on the day with 3 RBI and 2 R. Connor Brookes also stayed red hot going 3 for 3 with 2 R, 1 RBI and 1 BB. Joey Ajalli also knocked in 2 runs, as Kennett out hit Concord 12 to 5. The final scored turned out to be 14-6.
